Sheffield Wednesday starlet once again on score sheet for England

Sheffield Wednesday’s George Hist was once again on the score sheet for the England U20s after they won 2-1 against Japan in the Toulon Tournament as confirmed by their Twitter account.

Hirst has been in great form for the England U20s during this tournament as while he didn’t score in their opening game against Angola, a game they won 1-0, he would net a hat trick in a massive 7-1 victory over Cuba. And he followed that up by netting against Japan in the final group game of the tournament.

He would score from the spot to open the scoring though Japan would equalise through Mizuki Ando. However England would go on to win the game and the group when Chelsea’s Martell Taylor-Crossdale scored the winner in the second half with another penalty.

But for Wednesday, this is another example of why they think Hirst is the next big thing. He remains the top scorer in the Toulon Tournament with four goals and helped lead the Owls’ U23 team to two trophies this season. If his form continues like this, it’s likely he will be picking up even more winners medals in the next few weeks.

While Hirst, who is the son of club legend David Hirst, will be concentrating on helping England to retain the Toulon Tournament, he will also be looking to next season. After making his senior debut this season, he will be wanting to become a regular for Sheffield Wednesday and will want to help them finally get to the Premier League after making the play-offs two years in a row.
