Have you ever dropped a pebble in a pond and watched the ripples spread out in ever-widening circles? Well recently, not when it caught your wonderment as a six-year-old? If you have, that’s pretty much what Leeds United fans have at the moment in the ‘manager selection’ process.
Aitor Karanka came in to the epicentre of the ‘pebble drop’, before drifting back out to odds of 5/1. Pep Clotet came in to the centre and assumed the odds-on favourite role, before he drifted out a little to current odds of 5/4.
An unthought-of Premier League winner two seasons ago with Leicester City, Claudio Ranieri came storming in, professed ignorance to Leeds’ interest in him, and has stayed close to the centre on odds of 7/2.
Michael Laudrup, the former Barcelona, Real Madrid and Denmark legend was said to be interested and became one of the close ripples at as short as 7/1 before drifting out to his current odds of 20/1.
Late last night there were gasps of ‘Where did he come from?’ as a Juande Ramos sized pebble was dropped into the Leeds United manager pool. He got close to the centre at one point, currently he is 4th favourite at odds of 7/1.
With all this to-ing and fro-ing, Leeds United fans are getting more than antsy at there being a delay in any kind of announcement – with most having settled in their minds on a Ranieri/Clotet pairing at the Elland Road club.
Leeds United fans settle on Ranieri/Clotet combination – respond on Twitter
As mentioned, forget the idea of ‘smart money’ or ‘bookmaker savvy’, Leeds United fans have this one pretty much sewn up in their mind as in who they want in at the club to mastermind next season’s campaign.
I'd love it if Pep has told Garry straight that he's a little snake and can fuck off. Rumours saying Ranieri with Clotet as Asst. who knows.

There’s sense in this analogy, but most the girls ever working in my local chippy weren’t ‘fit’, and I’d hesitate at ‘girls’ for some.

This Leeds United combination of Clotet and Ranieri does have Leeds United fans thinking, and guessing, and beyond hope hoping.

So is Clotet boss or Ranieri's assistant as rumoured last night? Surely not the latter?! #lufc

I hope there is, but is there any truth in the Ranieri & Pep rumor?? #lufc

I hope Ranieri and Pep are announced before Boro announce Monk and Beatty so we have yet another reason to laugh at them #lufc

Appointing both Ranieri and Clotet has some seeing it as an iconic pairing.

Some Leeds United fans are seeing the pairing in terms of a logical progression of Master teaching his skills to a Padawan.
@andrearadri Announce Ranieri with Pep as No.2 , with a view to Pep taking over from Ranieri in a couple of years #lufc
