Top flight duo line up £2million move for creative Fulham midfielder

According to The Sun (3rd June, Page 66), Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in signing Fulham midfielder Kevin McDonald. In addition to the Premier League new boys, Rangers are also keen on snapping up the former Wolves man.

McDonald has have three-years remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage, meaning Fulham certainly aren’t prepared to just give him away. He has formed an excellent partnership with Stefan Johansen in the Cottagers midfield and is a key player in Slavisa Jokanovic’s starting eleven. Chris Hughton and Pedro Caixinha believe they can sign the player fro £2million.

The 28-year-old, who has also played for Burnley and Sheffield United too, could be swayed by the prospect of Premier League football by linking up with Brighton. The disappointment of losing to Reading in the play-off semi-finals could lead him to thinking now could be the time to jump back into the top flight. McDonald, who is Scottish, could also be tempted by a move to Glasgow giants Rangers, who are looking to rebuild under Caixinha and close the significant gap to rivals Celtic in the Scottish game.

McDonald made the move to Fulham this time last year, making 48 appearances in what was an excellent season individually. In total, he netted three goals, coming against Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town and also, Brighton. He is certainly one of the more creative players in the Sky Bet Championship and certainly wouldn’t look out of place in the top flight of both English and Scottish football. If Fulham want to sell is a completely different question however.
