Retained List: Ten given new contracts with promoted Blackpool

Blackpool manager Gary Bowyer has been locked in talks with various members of his squad over the last few days, resulting in his retained list being confirmed today. Ten players have seen options activated to extend their existing deals, whilst a further two have been offered extensions as well.

On the flip side, Blackpool have announced that ten have been officially released, but that includes one who is still in negotiations with the football club. The Tangerines celebrated Wembley triumph recently thanks to a victory over Exeter City.

First choice goalkeeper Sam Slocombe is under the released category but he and the club are still in talks. That means there is a chance he could still remain at Bloomfield Road for their return to Sky Bet League One in August. Jack Payne is the other high profile name to be moving on. He appeared 35 times for Blackpool in their promotion-winning campaign. The remaining names to move on are either untested youngsters or experienced professionals who found it hard to break into the starting eleven over the past season. Ian Black, Dean Lyness, Eddie Nolan and Jack Redshaw shall all be moving on. Henry Cameron, Luke Higham, John Herron and Macauley Wilson all seek pastures new.

Experienced striker Nathan Delfouneso has been offered extensions terms by Bowyer. He scored six goals last season, whilst key defender Tom Aldred is another that the Tangerines are hoping to keep on board.

Mark Cullen, Brad Potts and Kyle Vassell, who scored most of Blackpool’s goals last season, have seen options activated on their existing deals by one-year. Kelvin Mellor, Clark Robertson and Andy Taylor, other regular starters, also fit into this category too. Myles Boney, Colin Daniel, Jim McAlister and Bright Osayi-Samuel complete the list.
