Huddersfield Town interested in signing former Leeds United target

Following their promotion to the Premier League on Monday (May 29), Huddersfield Town are looking to build a squad capable of remaining in the top flight.

Few can argue that despite their unbelievable season this time round, they are clear favourites to return to the Sky Bet Championship at the first time of asking.

It’s down to Terriers boss David Wagner to make sure this does not happen, with a lot depending on which players he can bring to the club.

And The Mirror has reported that he is interested in signing Ashley Fletcher, who plays for West Ham United.

They report that Huddersfield Town have already made an enquiry to the Hammers to see if 21 year old Fletcher would be willing to join them on a season long loan.

Ashley Fletcher has attracted a lot of attention from Sky Bet Championship clubs in the past. Leeds United tried to sign the striker before he completed his move to West Ham United, and even had a loan bid rejected for him in January.

The same can be said for other sides, such as Fulham and Norwich, who are all hoping that West Ham decide to let Fletcher drop down a division in order to gain some valuable first team experience.

The 21 year old struggled to make a real impact at the London Stadium this season, and his appearances were usually limited to cup competitions.

West Ham United have been linked with a move to sign Kelechi Iheanacho, which means that Fletcher would be free to leave the club on a temporary basis.
