McMahon, Bolton Wanderers plan to sign Bradford City defender

Bolton Wanderers plan to sign Bradford City defender

Bolton Wanderers are planning a swoop on Bradford City by attempting to sign Tony McMahon according to a report from the Bolton News.

As if it was bad enough that Bradford didn’t get promoted from Sky Bet League One this season, with Bolton beating them to an automatic promotion spot, they ended up losing one of their key players as James Meredith left Valley Parade to sign up with the team that beat them in the play-off final, Millwall. But now former manager Phil Parkinson is planning a swoop on his former club as they are now looking to sign the full-back who plays on the other side.

McMahon has been a key player for Bradford ever since he signed for them from Blackpool in 2015 and he really excelled when he played under Parkinson in his first season in West Yorkshire. And while Bradford are hoping they can persuade him to stay at the club, especially with the hurt that the Meredith loss has caused them on one side of the defence, Bolton are hoping to sign him up.

Another lure for McMahon wouldn’t just be playing for former manager Parkinson. He would also get the chance to reunite with David Wheater, a player he formed a good partnership with when they both came through the Middlesbrough academy together. After playing well for Middlesbrough for a number of years, he would eventually move on to Sheffield United and perform well in his two years there. Then after a year with Blackpool, McMahon would end up signing for Bradford.
