Crawley Town: New boss provides Reds’ new style of play

Crawley Town’s new boss Harry Kewell is looking forward to proving himself with the Reds and taking them to a higher level.

The former Liverpool player, and Champions League winner, was appointed as Town’s boss on Tuesday and he has revealed how he hopes the League Two side will play next season.

Kewell made 181 appearances between 1996 and 2003 for Leeds United before a switch to Liverpool, where he scored twelve times in 93 appearances for the Merseyside giants.

But in his first press conference since taking charge of the Sussex side, the Australian international stated he enjoys the coaching side of football.

“My goal is I love football, I love playing it but I love more about this side of it, the technical side of it, the mind games.

“My goal is to be able to become someone that is able to bring clubs like Crawley up.

“Bringing exciting football, bringing people together and get the best out of people.”

But in the same press conference, the former Leeds and Liverpool player revealed his plans for Crawley’s new style of football.

“Style of football?” he pondered when quizzed about the topic. “That’s an interesting one, people have their own ideas about football.

“But again, I am a very attacking player, I have got a very attacking mind, I am fully aware there’s also defending involved in the game.

“There’s going to be a mixture. I am a very versatile person so I can adapt.

“But if you want to nail down to one kind of way, it will be attacking style of play.”
