Spurs youngster signs one-year deal with QPR

Sky Bet Championship club Queens Park Rangers have completed the signing of young midfielder Charlie Owens from Tottenham Hotspur according to Get West London.

The 19-year-old’s deal with the North Londoners is set to come to an end on 30 July and the player has signed a pre-contract agreement with QPR.

Owens was offered a trial at Loftus Road prior to the end of the 2016/2017 campaign and the player has impressed R’s manager Ian Holloway enough to be offered a one-year deal with The Hoops. The player made a number of appearances for the club’s under-23 squad resulting in Owens receiving a glowing reference from QPR under-23s boss Paul Hall.

During his time at White Hart Lane, the young midfielder featured for Spurs in their under-18s’ run in the FA Youth Cup while he also appeared in the Premier League 2 for the club’s development squad. Owens was highly rated by the club however with competition for places in the first team squad extremely strong, the player was ultimately deemed surplus to requirements in North London.

Owens will now look to prove his worth to new employer QPR and the player will hope to be more than just an under-23 squad member at Loftus Road.
