Coventry City influx continues with signing of Reading defender

Coventry City have made their sixth signing of the summer after completing a move to bring in Dominic Hyam from Reading on a free transfer as confirmed by the club website.

The 21-year-old defender came through the Reading academy but with him unable to break into the first team there, he has been released and was forced to continue his career elsewhere. And now he will be involved in the race for promotion after signing a contract of unknown length with Coventry.

The Sky Blues were recently relegated from Sky Bet League One after a dismal season and their head coach Mark Robins is completely changing the squad to make sure that they make a quick return to that division. And he has been busy already with Hyam being Coventry’s sixth signing of the summer and it doesn’t appear that the West Midlands side are going to slow down anytime soon.

After the signing was completed, Robins said: “Dominic is a strong and aggressive centre half, who comes from a very good Academy set-up at Reading.”

“His time there has ensured that he has all of the attributes to be a quality defender.”

“He has also spent time on loan in men’s football, which is an experience which will undoubtedly benefit him and us.”

“Dominic is another player with potential who we’ve brought in to develop and strengthen the club as a whole, not just the first team. Dominic will be expected to push for a place in the first-team, and adds depth and further quality to an important position.”
