Norwich City midfielder drops into League One on permanent deal

Milton Keynes Dons have announced the signing of midfielder Conor McGrandles from Sky Bet Championship side Norwich City. His contract at Carrow Road expired this summer, and Robbie Neilson has pounced to sign the player on a two-year deal.

The 21-year-old made just the one solitary first-team appearance since making the move from Falkirk back in 2014 for £1million. He would briefly returned to the Scottish club on loan in 2016, but he has mainly been in the Under-23 side at Norwich over the past season.

The Scot expressed his delight at making the move, saying that already knowing Neilson was a big reason in him agreeing to move,

“I’m very pleased to sign here. You never want to be worrying about your future over the offseason so to get this done early is perfect.

“When I learnt MK Dons were interested, I knew that it would be a great place for me to come to. I know the ambition of the club is to get out of the league again and that was a big factor. I know the manager and the coaching staff well too so that was another big draw.”

Neilson himself revealed his happiness at luring McGrandles to Stadium MK,

“We are delighted to be able to bring Conor in to develop further at MK Dons.

“He is a young and hungry player but also brings with him a wealth of experience having played a number of games at first-team level already.”

McGrandles is signing number two of the summer at MK Dons, with Peter Pawlett already making the move.
