Cardiff City target Preston North End full back

According to reports in the print version of the Daily Mirror, Cardiff City are interested in signing Greg Cunningham from Preston North End.

The report states that Neil Warnock has shown an interest in the left back, who has become a first team regular in the North End squad this season.

The Irish born defender helped his Preston North End finish higher than the Bluebirds this campaign, albeit on goal difference.

Cunningham is a product of Manchester City’s youth academy, having joined the Citizens as a youth player in 2007.

He made his Premier League debut for the club in 2010, but that was just one of two appearances, before he was sent out on loan to Leicester City, and then Nottingham Forest.

Due to his first team football being extremely limited at the Premier League club, Cunningham decided to move on. He joined Bristol City for an undisclosed fee in 2012,

He went on to make 91 appearances for the club, helping them to promotion from Sky Bet League One as champions.

He also scored four goals during his time at the club.

Cunningham moved to his current club Preston North End in 2015, again for an undisclosed fee.

He has been an ever present member of their squad since joining the Lancashire club, appearing 83 times, scoring three goals.

His footballing experience extends beyond club football. the talented left back also featured four times for the Republic of Ireland between 2010-2014.
