EFL clubs line up to take Championship keeper on season-long loan

West London Sport understands that Brentford are prepared to let Jack Bonham leave on a season-long loan next season. Bristol Rovers, Swindon Town, Port Vale and Wycombe Wanderers are all said to be interested in taking the player for a year.

The 23-year-old is now entering the final year of his contract at Griffin Park. Bonham is firmly the number two goalkeeper behind the talented Daniel Bentley and feels now is the right time to seek more regularly game time with one eye on his next future move.

There are certainly good cases for all of those clubs wanting to take the player to their respective club. Swindon Town are still without a manager but they will surely want to give Lawrence Vigouroux some decent competition at the County Ground. Port Vale are under new management with Michael Brown now being handed the reins after a spell as caretaker. He too will want to put his own stamp on the squad of players he has inherited. Bristol Rovers are the only Sky Bet League One club mentioned but it is unclear if they’ll be able to permanently sign goalkeeper Joe Lumley after a spell on loan from QPR. Finally, Wycombe saw Jamal Blackman return to Chelsea at the end of his loan spell, but he hasn’t completely shut the door on returning.

So the question is where does Bonham go. If these are the four he essentially has to pick from. Perhaps it looks as though he’ll need certain assurances before committing. He clearly wants to be first choice wherever he goes.
