Newcastle United have made signing Bournemouth’s Joshua King their number one priority according to a report from the Northern Echo.
The Magpies are returning to the Premier League after becoming the champions of the Sky Bet Championship and they are certainly keen to make sure that they aren’t going to make up the numbers. Head coach Rafa Benitez has been handed an £80m budget following their promotion and he already has big plans on how to spend it. Reports earlier in the week said Newcastle were planning to make a £10m bid for Fulham’s Tom Cairney, only to be told they would have to spend £20m if they wanted to sign him. But their main priority is another talented player.
According to this report, their main priority is to try and sign Josh King from Bournemouth. They are already the home of another Cherries favourite after Matt Ritchie moved to St James Park last season and will be looking to sign another one of them this summer. They believe that King would fit in well with the rest of the squad and considering his great form this season, he was the 8th highest goalscorer in the Premier League with 15 goals, he would become a key player for the squad instantly.
But King isn’t even the only Bournemouth player that Newcastle are interested in, Their interest in Callum Wilson has been reported before but it could be reignited again as they believe that he also would be a great fit for the team.
