Senior figure resigns at Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers’ director of football and operations Paul Senior has resigned from his role, not even 24 hours after the club were relegated to Sky Bet League One.

Blackburn were relegated yesterday (May 7), despite their victory at Brentford.

Victories for Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest meant that the Lancashire club were sent down to the third tier for the first time in three decades.

Following the club’s relegation, fans took to Twitter to share their feelings on what had happened over the past year at Ewood park.

It is believed that Paul Senior was the only member of the ‘hierarchy’ who Tony Mowbray spoke to before he took the job in February.

He was hired in the New year, and was challenged with overseeing recruitment at the Lancashire club.

However, following his resignation, he will of course not be around in order to try and prepare Blackburn Rovers for life in League One next season.

A statement on the official Blackburn Rovers website said: “The club would like to thank Paul for his efforts and wish him well in his future endeavours.!

It followed up with a small statement from Paul Senior himself. This statement said: “I would like to go on record by wishing Tony Mowbray, the club’s loyal and hard-working staff and fantastic fans the very best good fortune going forward.”
