Retained List: Rochdale offer new contracts to six

Today is the day that Sky Bet League One outfit Rochdale have revealed their retained list following the climax of their season. Keith Hill’s side narrowly missed out on the play-off places, and as such there are no ‘thrills or spills’ compared to quite a lot of the other EFL clubs.

A total of two players have been told that they are free to exit Spotland, with both of those very much fringe players at best. Perhaps more notably, contract offers have been made to six first-team players, in the hope that they will remain at Rochdale for another season at least.

Touching on those who are departing, the first of those is goalkeeper Johny Diba. The 19-year-old failed to make a single appearance for the club over the last season. He has in fact made just one appearance for the club over the last three years. He did however spent time out on loan at FC United of Manchester. Secondly, 18-year-old forward David Owusu has been told he is free to depart as well. He did get on the pitch this season, making a solitary substitutes appearance in January’s 4-0 home defeat to Oxford United.

The goalkeeping jersey tended to be rotated at Spotland this season, and one of those to often get the nod was Conrad Logan. The ex-Leicester City youngster has been offered extended terms. Right back Joe Rafferty, a regular starter, has also been told he is wanted next season. Matty Lund, who scored nine times in the league from midfield, is another who is part of Hill’s intended plans. 27-year-old Donal McDermott is wanted too, in addition to both Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Reuben Noble-Lazarus.
