National League player of the year joins Peterborough United

Sky Bet League One signed Peterborough United have today confirmed the signing of striker Ricky Miller from Dover.

The National League top goal scorer’s contract at Dover expired at the end of the season, and he has signed a three year contract at the ABAX Stadium.

Miller’s medical at Posh was completed on Wednesday, and he will join his team-mates at the end of June, when his contract at Dover officially expires.

The frontman scored an impressive 42 goals in the National League for Dover Athletic, which saw him named the National League Player of the Year.

Speaking about the new signing, Peterborough United boss Grant McCann said: “I am delighted that Ricky has signed. We are pleased it is all done and dusted now. He has been the top player in the National League, scoring over 40 goals, and he’s a natural winner.

“He knows where the back of the net is and I am looking forward to working with him.”

Director of football Barry Fry also commented on the signing.

He said: “Ricky has done brilliantly to score the amount of goals he has and hopefully he will come here and hit the ground running.”

Fry also admitted that Posh made several attempts to sign the striker in January.

“To be fair, we tried to buy Ricky in January, but the chairman of Dover never returned my calls,” he chuckled.

“It was understandable, because Dover had the ambition to get promoted.

Speaking to Posh TV, Miller described his move to Posh as “a dream come true.”

“It’s finally happened,” he said. “I’ve wanted to play for Peterborough for a long time and I’m thrilled it’s finally happened.”
