Forest defender desperate for new deal

Nottingham Forest defender Eric Lichaj would like to sign a new contract extension with the club according to the Nottingham Post.

The 28-year-old American defender has a little over one year remaining on his current deal at The City Ground and has impressed many with his solid performances for The Reds so far this season.

The player has recently been linked with a move away from the club however Lichaj has now confirmed that he has no desire to leave Forest and that he hopes to extend his stay with The Reds once their Sky Bet Championship survival is confirmed.

Lichaj started his career in his homeland with USL Premier Development League club Chicago Fire Premier before moving to England in 2008 to join Aston Villa’s academy system. Villa loaned the defender out to Lincoln City, Leyton Orient and Leeds United to gain first team playing experience before the player went on to appear for his parent club on a more regular basis at first team level upon his return to Villa Park.

In summer 2013, Lichaj joined current club Nottingham Forest and the player has gone to to make 160 appearances for The Reds and has scored three goals. The defender has also gone on to stand in as captain for the Forest side.
