Leeds United must do something different after dropping out of the play-offs

Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has admitted to BBC Radio Leeds that his team must change their mind-set after they dropped out of the play-off places at the weekend.

The West Yorkshire side have surprised many by becoming a mainstay of the play-offs this season, not budging from the top six since they broke into them earlier in the season. However Leeds’ form has stuttered over the last few weeks and with them losing to Wolves on Easter Monday and both Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday getting wins, it saw the Whites drop out of the top six.

This has now become a huge for Leeds as there are now worries that they may not make the play-offs after doing so well for most of the season. And Monk has acknowledged that, saying that if they want to get back into the top six they will need to change their entire mentality.

He said: “We’re on the hunt now. We’ve got three games to do it now and we have to play for our lives,”

“I know 100% that this group will give everything in these next three games and if we take nine points then we give ourselves a great chance.”

“We now have to change our mentality and it can be a dangerous situation for other teams because they can change their mentality to protecting a little bit.”

“I have great belief in this group.”

Leeds can turn things around and get back into the top six if results go their way and they win their next match against Burton Albion.
