Championship side Wigan Athletic’s manager shortlist includes current Luton Town manager Nathan Jones, according to Sunday’s print edition of The Sun.
Wigan sacked their last manager Warren Joyce last month and are yet to appoint his successor, with Graham Barrow in caretaker charge of the team. Joyce won only six of his 24 games in charge of the club, leaving with a win percentage of only 25%. Wigan are currently 23rd in the Championship table, five points from safety, and look as though they will go straight back down to League One this season.
It was reported yesterday that Wigan were planning a move for current Fleetwood Town manager Uwe Rosler, who used to manage Wigan. It is understood that their shortlist also includes Luton Town manager Nathan Jones.
[interaction id=”58f50ea4240e61ee26bf2426″]Jones took over as Luton boss back in January 2016 and led the club to 11th in League Two, despite a poor start to the season under former boss John Still. Jones has had a successful time in charge of Luton, with the club currently fourth in the table with three games left to play.
Wigan look like they will be playing League One football again next season, and any move for Jones could hinge on whether Luton will be in the same division as Wigan.
Wigan’s manager shortlist is also understood to include another former manager, Gary Caldwell, along with former Hull City manager Mike Phelan.
