Sheffield Wednesday fans react to key win over QPR

As we get closer and closer to the end of the season, every game becomes more and more important. That is certainly the case for Sheffield Wednesday this season.

They are currently fighting for a spot in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs and with Fulham breathing down their necks, they know that just one loss could see them watching the end of season lottery from home.

Their next big game was actually in Fulham’s stomping ground as they headed to West London to face QPR, a team that haven’t got much to play for but would sure love to spoil someone else’s party. But Wednesday were able to win this game and keep their place in the top six, for now.

It all went well early on for the Owls as they quickly took control of the game and were able to convert that dominance into a goal when Adam Reach got his third of the season to put Wednesday into the lead. However they weren’t able to keep that lead for long as Idrissa Sylla was able to bundle in an equaliser.

But in a similar scene to Friday, Wednesday would get the eventual winner when Jordan Rhodes forced a good save from Alex Smithies and one of the Owls players, this time Daniel Pudil, was first to it and was able to convert. QPR did put a lot of pressure on the Wednesday defence in the last part of the game, but the team from South Yorkshire were able to hold out and get all three points.

And as you’d expect, Wednesday’s fans were delighted.
