On Tuesday evening, it was announced that Roland Duchatelet is officially ready to sell Charlton Athletic and is currently in talks with an Australian Consortium according to Mail Sport. Charlton fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news.
It is understood at the current time that an Australian Sports Consortium, which goes by the name of Australian Football Consortium LTD is raising £20 million capital to buy Charlton Athletic from Roland Duchatelet.
The purchase would involve the acquisition of the club itself, as well as the training ground based in Eltham, which is known as Sparrows Lane.
Nothing is guaranteed as of yet, but one thing is certain, Roland Duchatelet is ready to retreat from English football.
Charlton Athletic fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news of a possible takeover.
What must Robinson be thinking now after being "abruptly" told the club was not for sale #cafc

The only thing I worry about is the finances, if they're trying to scramble the capital, how do they plan to invest in players? #cafc

Most important part of the Mail story is the first six words of the headline – "Charlton's Roland Duchatelet ready to sell" #cafc

#cafc The mere fact they have to raise 20 mill capital first is a bit worrying!

Nothing wrong with the "Feeder Club" idea if the owners know about English Football. Clearly a no under the current owner #cafc

Role a 🎲 on the Aussies and we might "secure a return to the Premier League in five years".
Stay with RD/KM we 💯% won't.#RolandOut #cafc

👍
The statement talks of promotion to the Premier League being a key component of the takeover.
Current owner couldn't care less! #cafc https://t.co/6XqHi0i8Yp

Hoping any potential #cafc takeover won't be out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Surely change must be better than no change though.

EASY to improve on RD:
– Fresh start
– Basic respect for #cafc fans & history
– Ambition for ⚽️ success
– Attend games
– Promotion challenge https://t.co/SChnIFkGzt— David Jarvis (@DavidJarvis25) April 12, 2017
I got exited when RD took over, maybe I'll wait and see what the Australians have in plan before losing my head! #cafc

Just have to try and be positive, Australia is a much better place to protest than Belgium anyway 😂 #cafc
