Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic to battle it out to sign Falkirk wing back

Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic are set to fight it out to try and sign Falkirk’s Fraser Aird according to a report from the Daily Mail.

Aird has been incredibly impressive for Falkirk this season and while he is in a league not known for producing much quality, the Scottish Championship, the 22-year-old wing back has still been able to shine and attract plenty of interest from south of the border.

While Falkirk would love to keep one of their star men, the club have resigned to the fact they will be losing Aird because his contract is set to expire in the summer and the player is wanting to test himself at a higher level. This means plenty of clubs from the Sky Bet Championship are interested in making a move for him and this report suggests both Blackburn and Wigan will be leading the chase to sign him.

While both Fleetwood Town and Plymouth Argyle have sent scouts to watch Aird the last few weeks, they are expected to be outgunned by the resources available to Blackburn and Wigan as they make their own pushes to sign him. Both clubs know they can’t match some of the big spenders in the Championship and are so looking for bargains and with Aird having plenty of potential to get even better, they seem as a player who can be a mainstay for their side for years to come.

But for now Aird will hope to impress even more in his last few games for Falkirk so he get as many teams chasing him in the summer as possible.
