Yiadom, Swansea City plan swoop for Barnsley defender

Swansea City plan swoop for Barnsley defender

Swansea City have listed Barnsley’s Andy Yiadom as a potential target according to a report from The Sun.

While the Swans cannot properly plan for next season yet because their league status is currently uncertain, they are currently 17th in the Premier League and are only outside the relegation zone due to goal difference, they are starting to plot some moves that they may make in the summer. Their main target, according to this report, is set to be PSV Eindhoven right back Santiago Arias but they have already got some names ready in case that doesn’t work out. One of those names is set to be Yiadom.

The 25-year-old defender has had a meteoric rise over the last few years. After years of being stuck in non-league football with clubs such as Hayes and Yeading United and Braintree Town, he got promoted with Barnet and impressed on their return to the EFL. He earned a move to Barnsley in the summer and adjusted to the jump up to Sky Bet Championship with ease, becoming a key player as the Tykes never looked like they were going to be involved in a relegation battle.

But with Barnsley losing a couple of their key players in the January transfer window, Swansea believe they may be able to make them lose more in the summer. They have made signing a new right back a priority and if they are unable to sign Arias, they will be happy to move on and try to sign Yiadom.
