Jedinak, Aston Villa boss Bruce to make Jedinak walk the green Mile

Aston Villa boss Bruce to make Jedinak walk the green Mile

Australian midfielder Mile Jedinak only arrived at Villa Park last summer but already is said to be one of the faces that Villa boss Steve Bruce is thinking of moving on from the club.

The 32-year-old defensive midfield stopper was signed by former Villa boss Roberto de Matteo from Premier League Crystal Palace in mid-August for a fee reported to be close to £4 million. However, it appears that Bruce, according to Sun journalist and football writer Alan Nixon, is ready to cut his losses should another side be willing to take Jedinak off the books at Villa.

Nixon says in the Sun’s online version that Villa “will try to move out Mile Jedinak at the end of the season as part of a major overhaul,” with the Villans conceding that their stay in the Sky Bet Championship will involve at least a second season.

The 70-cap, 15-goal Socceroo last featured for the Australian national side in the 2-0 World Cup Qualification victory over the UAE on March 28, playing 89 minutes as captain. He has made 27 appearances for Aston Villa in this season’s Sky Bet Championship, featuring heavily in their improving form – form that has seen them win six of their last seven games.

In this time, Jedinak has contributed just the two assists but, according to the Sun and journalist Nixon, the Aussie captain, and others like him at Villa on ‘Premier League money’, “will be culled if Villa can find a club to take them.
