The renowned Charlton protest group, Coalition Against Roland Duchatelet (CARD), released a statement on Monday stating that they have plans to unite with Coventry City fans for a second time this season, in rebellion against Sisu and Roland Duchatelet, at the Ricoh Arena on Good Friday.
Back on the 15th October last year, Coventry City fans and CARD pledged an alliance to stage a joint protest before the game to make clear to their respective owners they wanted them gone. In addition, it was also seen as an opportunity by both parties to show the English Football League and the Football Association, in a very public manner, the issues which several clubs are facing. One of the biggest takeaways, was the rather astounding images of tribal English home and away fans marching and singing together in unity against their destructive owners.
Since then not much has changed for either club. At Charlton, there are currently quiet rumblings of a potential takeover in the works, but there is currently no guarantees, and if there is one taking place Roland Duchatelet and his team are adamant it stays as quiet as possible. However, for Coventry City, the situation still appears to be very grim, and are still on course to lose their stadium after next season, but possibly earlier. There are also potential issues and concerns in regards to their academy, and its future status, as the training ground is set to be sold in June, with no foreseeable replacement.
As a result of the current turbulent environments, both clubs are experiencing, the 2016/17 campaign getting closer to a finale, CARD and the Coventry City fans have decided to unite once again, on Good Friday (14th April) under one Fans United banner in an attempt to drive out both their respective damaging and deeply hated owners.
At the current time no details have been disclosed of either parties plans for this joint demonstration, but the umbrella protest organisation (CARD), has ensured both sets of fans more details will be disclosed in due course.
In an attempt for CARD to rally as many Addicks to attend the joint demonstration on the 14th April, the protest group is providing coach travel for Southeast London and Kent, which will be 33.33% cheaper than the ones being offered by the club itself. The price will be £13 per person from all the pickup zones listed below:
