Aston Villa’s deadline-day signing Scott Hogan has told the clubs official website that he is excited about the potential of his strike partnership with Ivorian, Jonathan Kodjia.
The player who made the move from Brentford was one of seven new signings made by manager Steve Bruce in January.
He has scored 15 goals for his two clubs this season and his partner, Kodjia, has 16 to his credit.
The former Bristol City man (Kodjia) was a summer signing from Championship rivals Bristol City. He, along with Ross McCormack, we’re pinpointed by former manager Roberto Di Matteo as the partnership to get Villa back into the top league at the first time of asking.
However, following the Italian’s departure – it all went downhill for McCormack. The Scotsman, following some controversial actions, was transferred to Nottingham Forest on deadline day.
Kodjia, though, has gone from strength to strength and has really made himself a home in the Midlands.
Hogan, 24, was full of praise for his strike partner and admitted that developing a partnership is something they’re working on.
“We want to form a partnership definitely – and a really good one too,” he said.
“We know what Kodj is like. He’s off the cuff. He can do extraordinary things and he can win games on his own. He’s a real talent.
“Our defence and midfield are really solid. If we can get Kodj and I clicking, it could be something quite exciting. I think we will get clicking soon. I am confident it will work.”
