Huddersfield Town midfielder ruled out due to serious injury – reactions

Huddersfield’s Jonathan Hogg was stretchered off the pitch at Ashton Gate on Friday after clashing with teammate, Mark Hudson. He required 14 minutes of treatment before resuming play.

The midfielder appeared to have suffered a head and neck injury after colliding with another teammate. Both clubs’ medical teams rushed to Hogg’s aid before senior medics took over. Terriers manager, David Wagner himself entered the field of play, comforting his player whilst medics put him onto a stretcher.

Positive news came from the medical room; confirming that the 28-year-old is responsive and has been talking to the medical staff.

Huddersfield confirmed via Twitter that Hogg has suffered a neck injury and will undergo another scan in hospital. It is currently unknown how long the midfielder will be ruled out.

He has made 29 out of 37 league appearances so far for the Terriers. However, he has scored just one goal in August – a 92nd-minute decisive goal after Barnsley’s Alfie Mawson equalised three minutes into the second half.

He’s got all the support behind him…

Reactions took over onto Twitter as fans sent out their support for the midfielder.

The Terriers suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to the Robins with goals from Lee Tomlin, Tammy Abraham, Aden Flint and David Cotterill respectively.

What do I think about Hogg’s injury?

It’s a shame when any player is ruled out due to injury. All of them are different and some take longer than others. I’m sure Wagner will help him when he’s able to start training again and start him once fit enough. These types of injuries aren’t ones to be rushed so we must all be patient. Hogg took a serious blow and I believe that Huddersfield fans won’t be seeing him in the starting squad for the remainder of this season.

He’s a key player under David Wagner and whilst the team battles for the promotion spot, his injury is a big setback for him. However, talented faces of Phillip Billing and Joe Lolley will be able to step in for the 28-year-old.

I wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him on the pitch in due course.
