Birmingham wideman Arthur among three given OK to leave

When Birmingham City sacked Gary Rowett they were there, or thereabouts, at the right end of the Sky Bet Championship league table. With Rowett gone, the Blues went into freefall.

The Championship strugglers, who currently sit 17th in the league table, have announced, according to the Birmingham Mail, that a trio of youngsters will be allowed to leave St Andrews at the end of the season.

As well as former Fulham youngster Noe Baba (20) and goalkeeper Josh Tibbetts (18), 16-appearance winger Koby Arthur is also set to call time on his Blues career with his contract not being renewed when it runs out at the end of this season.

Arthur made his début for Birmingham City as a 17-year-old, with then-Birmingham boss Lee Clark initially blooding him at the tailend of the 2012/13 season in a 3-2 defeat against rivals Wolves. The following season Arthur, who signed as a youth player for Birmingham from Northamptonshire-based side Woodford United, looked to be battling Demarai Gray for a starting spot before Gary Rowett opted for Gray from the winter of 2014 on.

The young Birmingham winger is currently on his second spell out on loan with Cheltenham Town, having turned out for them eight times during the 2014/15 season – scoring four goals. However, in his current spell of seven loan games covering just 241 minutes the once-regarded wideman hasn’t managed to find the back of the net.

The Blues face a tough game at the weekend as they entertain high-flying Newcastle United at St Andrews in a game where three points would be most welcome for Gianfranco Zola’s side.
