Cardiff to demand £20 million for key striker

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has revealed that he wishes to keep hold of star striker Kenneth Zohore, and has stated that only a bid of £20 million or more would be enough to prise him away from the Welsh capital, according to Wales Online.

The 23-year-old signed for the Bluebirds earlier in the season, initially on loan from K.V. Kortrijk, but after impressing manager Neil Warnock, he signed on a permanent basis in January.

8 goals in his last 20 games doesn’t sound too impressive, but his goals have pulled Cardiff away from the relegation zone, and earned him a Championship Player of the Month Award nomination.

The 6 foot 3 inch tall Dane has been capped at youth levels for Denmark all the way up to under 21 level, but has failed to break into the national team.

In an interview previewing the Bluebirds’ clash with Birmingham this weekend, Warnock said: “If I’m to have any chance next season, he won’t be going anywhere.”

“You can never say never – if someone came in £20m you can’t say no and I’d even sell Sol Bamba for that who has been just as important.”

The statement clearly states Warnock’s intent for next season, and serves as a warning to any potential suitors this summer. But it could also be a rallying call to owner Vincent Tan to show some ambition and keep hold of the Danish striker.

There will certainly be interest in Zohore this summer, but after the departure of Lex Immers, it will be vital for the Bluebirds’ hopes next season to keep hold of their talisman.
