Former Crystal Palace chairman slams Newcastle United fans but praises Leeds

Former Crystal Palace chairman has slammed Newcastle United fans for being unrealistic on Twitter while praising the amount of away supporters that Leeds United get.

The former chairman, who ran affairs at Crystal Palace between 2000 and 2010 when his time at the club came to an end when they went under administration, took to Twitter last night to praise the 5,000 Leeds who made the long trip to Fulham on Tuesday night. He also took a potshot at their owner Massimo Cellino, calling him an Italian loon.

However when a Newcastle United fan told Jordan he was wrong about praising Leeds fans as while they always travel big going away, they struggle to sell out their 39,000 seater Elland Road stadium.

However Jordan had a reply to this saying that Leeds fans were always realistic unlike Newcastle fans, as they believe that they should win the Premier League just because they usually finish in the top half of the table.

It was certainly a barb that was enjoyed by many Leeds fans, who needed something to enjoy after seeing their team draw following a 95th minute equaliser from Tom Cairney in their match against Fulham. But many also pointed out that Newcastle’s gripes last season with Alan Pardew, a fan favourite at Crystal Palace and their current head coach, are the same that the Eagles fans are now having with him.

Leeds and Newcastle can prove has the better fans, and more importantly the better team, when they take each other on in their match on the 14th April.
