Leeds defender Bartley talks up huge Sheffield Wednesday clash

Leeds United’s Kyle Bartley has said that Saturday’s game against Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday is the biggest of the season so far.

The Whites welcome Carlos Carvahal’s men to Elland Road knowing that a win would go a long way in their bid to achieve a top six finish this season.

Leeds defender Bartley will be expected to start the match, and has admitted to the Yorkshire Evening Post that he sees the crunch fixture as the most significant of the season so far.

However, his sole reason for this is that as each game progresses, the next fixture always becomes the most important in his eyes.

He said; “We have said it all season long that our biggest game is our next game so that is our next game.

“We will prepare well in the week, and go into that match wanting the three points and expecting the three points as well.

“We are just looking at ourselves at the moment and just taking it game by game. We are trying to get as many points as possible and we will see where we end up.”

Leeds are currently enjoying their most successful season in a number of years; they currently sit in fifth position, and look on course to achieve a top six finish for the first time since their return to the second tier in 2010.

With supporters rallying behind their team as the business end of the season quickly approaches, Bartley praised the atmopshere at Elland Road as “fantastic”.

“It’s a really special place to be at at the moment, but it’s important for us not to get fixated on that, and to take it game by game as everyone keeps saying.

“We can only get three points per game, and that’s just what we have got to do.”

Leeds United v Sheffield Wednesday will be shown live on Sky Sports 1 this Saturday, with an earlier kick-off time of 12:30pm.
