Billing, Southampton and West Brom interested in Huddersfield Town star

Southampton and West Brom interested in Huddersfield Town star

According to The Sun, various Premier League clubs are interested in and are monitoring Huddersfield Town youngster Philip Billing.

The former Denmark U19 international made his Terriers debut back in 2014 in a Championship clash with Leicester City. Billing was in and out of the team last term and did not make an appliance this season until November, but has been an important player for David Wagner since the Christmas period. After getting his chance in a 3-2 loss at Cardiff City, Billing has played in 14 of the possible 18 games and drawn many admirers from around the Football League.

The Sun now reports that Southampton are interested in signing the 20-year-old and are understood to have sent scouts to watch Billing in Saturday’s goalless FA Cup draw with Manchester City.

Surprise performers of this year’s top-flight campaign, West Bromwich Albion, were also interested in Huddersfield’s Danish starlet in the summer. The Baggies are believed to have taken a major shine to Philip Billing, who is rated around the £5 million mark.

The youngster is set to play tonight in the huge Championship clash with promotion rivals Reading. The fixture will be the Terriers’ game-in-hand on second-placed Brighton & Hove Albion and a win for Wagner’s side could take the Yorkshire club just four points adrift of the Seagulls in the automatic spot. Huddersfield have lost just once in their last 16 games.

However, the Royals will prove to be tough opponents. Jaap Stam’s side would move above Huddersfield with a win and came from behind against Brentford midweek to gain three points.
