Huddersfield Town set to face investigation after bottle thrown at Raheem Sterling

Huddersfield Town could face an investigation after a fan threw a bottle at Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling according to a report from the Yorkshire Post.

The FA Cup Fifth Round tie between Huddersfield and Manchester City was one without much incident as they played out a 0-0 draw, albeit an entertaining one which will see the match being replayed at the Etihad Stadium. However a good day of football was marred when on the 63rd minute, a bottle was thrown in Sterling’s direction while he warmed up at the side of the pitch. He, alongside team mates Leroy Sane and Bacary Sagna, then looked towards the crowd where it appeared to come from.

And now, Huddersfield could face an FA investigation should it be reported to the higher-ups. At this current time it doesn’t seem as if Manchester City have made a complaint to the FA, with their head coach Pep Guardiola refusing to comment on it when asked in the post-match press conference, but if it is included in referee’s Anthony Taylor match report, action could be taken.

If the FA do decide to investigate and the club were found guilty, Huddersfield would receive a fine of some sort. However for now while this is up in the air, the club will need to concentrate on their upcoming days so they can continue their push for promotion. Their next game is set to take place on Tuesday when they face Reading, a game which was rearranged due to this weekend’s FA Cup match.
