Leeds: Whites fans react to Wood opener

Leeds United supporters were forced to wait until the 28th-minute before breaking the deadlock against Bristol City, but once they did they quickly voiced their opinions on Twitter.

Chris Wood scored the Whites’ opener just before the half-hour mark as he made a perfectly timed run to meet Pablo Hernandez’s quickly taken free-kick. The striker then calmly bundled the ball over the line as the visitors stood bewildered with how the set-piece was allowed to be taken so quickly.

The hosts looked the most likely to open the scoring first, but with the half beginning to edge to a close it looked as if Bristol could edge themselves in front against the run-of-play.

However, many supporters thought that they should be further ahead following their clear dominance. The Whites were creating chances, however they were just unable to convert their chances – and once Leeds scored the opener it quickly became clear that a second would be heavily required.

The popular New Zealand international netted his 13th goal of the season with just under half-an-hour gone, and the goal meant that Wood has now scored more goals in 2017 than some other teams in the English Football League.
