Clough, Nottingham Forest still interested in appointing former player as new head coach

Nottingham Forest still interested in appointing former player as new head coach

Nottingham Forest are planning to go back and talk again to Burton Albion head coach Nigel Clough in the summer according to a report from The Sun.

Forest recently secured their management situation for the rest of the season when interim head coach Gary Brazil was given the job for the rest of the season after guiding them to a mini revival under his tenure. He will be looking to improve the team for the rest of the season so he can have a shot of getting the job on a permanent basis.

But Forest are still interested in the man they tried to bring in as head coach in January. They had talked to Nigel Clough about him possibly following the footsteps of his legendary father and taking the job at the City Ground, but he felt nervous joining a club in turmoil after their failed takeover as well as feeling he shouldn’t abandon his current team Burton mid-season.

Forest though feel they may have a better chance of landing him during the summer. Clough was interested in the job and if the club can prove that their ownership situation is stable and ready to support the manager, he may be persuaded to take the reins. It will be a high pressure job due to the size of the club and how well his dad did when on the touch-line there, but it also seems to be one that Clough may not be able to resist.

Current head coach Brazil though will get another chance to impress in the match against Norwich City tomorrow.
