Former Leeds United boss hopes for the worst for returning defender

Former Leeds United manager Terry Yorath has joked to BBC Radio Wales that he wants Cardiff City’s Sol Bamba to play just like he did for Leeds in this weekend’s match.

This weekend sees Cardiff take on Leeds in what is sure to be fiery match. There are plenty of plot lines to follow in this game, with Neil Warnock returning to Leeds with another team being one of them, but another one of the returnees will be Bamba. He will be playing against the West Yorkshire club for the first time since he was released just after the transfer deadline in September.

While Bamba could put in some very good performances for Leeds, he had just as many where he would make a crucial mistake which would see the team concede a goal. While he was acceptable for a while, Leeds decided to revamp their back four this year and the combination of Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley has been fantastic for them this year.

And ahead of the game, Yorath is hoping Bamba will be making another one of his trademark mistakes to let Leeds win the game. He said: “Well I hope he plays for Cardiff like he did for Leeds because he used to give a chance away every game,”

“He was one you couldn’t trust, playing alongside him was Bellusci, and Bellusci was another one you couldn’t trust, so Leeds at central defence last year were a shambles.”

We’ll see if that mistake happens when the game kicks off tomorrow.
