Chesterfield’s Lloyd Allinson has signed a new contract with the club that will keep him there until the end of the season as confirmed by the club website.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper signed for the Spireites on a short-term deal in the summer shortly after his release from Huddersfield Town. While he was initially signed as a back-up, he has been able to prove himself in the first team over the last few months after he made his début in Sky Bet League One in the 2-1 loss against Fleetwood Town. During this season he has made a total of eight appearances.
And now his future is secured for a bit longer after Allinson put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at the Proact Stadium until the end of the season.While it is likely that he will remain on the bench for most of the season, he has proven that when needed he can step into the fold and that has impressed the management at the club. So now, Allinson will have to bide his time and when he does get the chance, impress so he can get a more long-term deal when this contract expires in the summer.
Following the signing of the contract, Chesterfield head coach Gary Caldwell said: “Lloyd has done well in the games he’s played in and with Tommy Lee out injured, it was important to resolve the situation regarding his future.”
Allinson will most likely be watching from the bench when Chesterfield face Northampton Town on Saturday.
