Chinese club aiming to lure Brighton midfielder to Far East

Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian are aiming to make Brighton and Hove Albion’s Beram Kayal one of their big signature signings according to a report from The Sun.

Tianjin Quanjian attracted headlines from across the world when they tried to sign Diego Costa from Chelsea in what would have been a sensational transfer. While Costa wouldn’t become one of the many Chelsea players who decided to go play in China, Quanjian become known in the west just because of their serious attempt to sign one of the best strikers in the Premier League.

But with the Chinese transfer window not closing until the end of February, they still have plenty of time to bring in a player that will excite their fans enough to buy tickets. And in order to do that, they have looked towards one of the best midfielders in the Sky Bet Championship.

The 28-year-old midfielder has been one of Brighton’s best performers last season though he, and the rest of the team, have taken it to another level this year as the Seagulls challenge for a spot in the automatic promotion spots. They are currently 2nd in the Championship and a lot of that is down to Kayal.

But now there will be a big temptation to sell Kayal as they have been offered £3m for him by Tianjin Quanjian. And for the Israeli international, while it would be a step down in terms of quality of football, he would be getting a sensational amount of money in wages like many of the other imports into this league.
