McCormack could still have Villa future – Bruce

Steve Bruce has told The Birmingham Mail that striker Ross McCormack could still have a future at Aston Villa, despite leaving for a loan spell at Nottingham Forest on deadline day.

The former Leeds and Fulham man hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons last month. Having had a tough start to his career at Villa Park, it was revealed by Bruce in a press conference McCormack had been regularly skipping training sessions. At one stage, it was alleged that he had even blamed his no-showing on his front gates.

However, according to Bruce, that might not be the last that the Villa faithful see of the Scotsman.

An apology, it seems, would go a long way to repairing Bruce’s relationship with the forward.

He told the Birmingham Mail that he didn’t expect an apology from McCormack but if he did, a fresh start could be in the offing.

“I think it was plainly obvious (that he wasn’t going to apologise)

“Certainly, he won’t play for me unless he apologises, not to me but to the club and his team-mates.

“If he does then he’ll be like everybody else, a new slate, no problem.”

McCormack has now been tipped to turn around the fortunes of a struggling Forest side. However, hewill be unable to represent them in their fixture this evening.

As they are set to face his parent club Aston Villa in the late kick-off, he is ineligible for selection.
