West Ham hot prospect set to join Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are set secure the loan signing of West Ham United youngster Reece Oxford, according to the Daily Mail.

The youngster was first included in a match day squad back in 2014 aged just 15 as he was an unused substitute in a League Cup loss to Sheffield United. The following season, Oxford made his professional debut at the age of 16 in a Europa League qualifying game and made a further 11 appearances for the Hammers last term.

Now 18 years of age, Oxford is a well-known, highly-rated future star and is monitored by the likes on Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal. Two appearances in August proved to be Oxford’s last to date but he is now fit again after an ankle injury.

It now appears that, despite having no manager, Nottingham Forest are intrested in signing the youngster and have made an official enquiry. West Ham are believed to be keen to allow Oxford to spend time on loan for development and gain valuable first-team experience.

Oxford, who is West Ham United’s youngest player of all time, has represented England at numerous youth levels and is already capped in the England U20s age group where he plays alongside the likes of Patrick Roberts and £7.5 million forward Ademola Lookman.

The tall, quick defensive-minded player will be a great asset to Forest and give the club a boost to escape the bottom-half of the table. The Championship club are hopeful of securing the loan deal before the transfer deadline and host Rotherham United in their next fixture.
