Nottingham Forest plot sensation swoop for Aston Villa striker

Nottingham Forest are plotting one of the deals of they day as they make Aston Villa’s Ross McCormack a target according to a report from BBC Radio Nottingham.

The 30-year-old striker was a marquee signing when he moved to Aston Villa from Fulham for a reported £12m in the summer and was expected to be the man who would score the goals that could fire them back to the Premier League. However his form has been inconsistent, he’s only scored three goals this season, and soon attracted the ire of head coach Steve Bruce.

McCormack didn’t show up for training one day, he blamed the fact the gates at his home were stuck which trapped him inside his house, which later led Bruce to blast him in the press. He would then demote the Scottish international to training with the U23s and it looks like his career with Aston Villa is in doubt.

Several teams had been interested in McCormack, though Fulham dropped their interest in him after their players told the management that they didn’t want him back in West London, but as the deadline comes close to closing, a team has to make their move if they want to sign him. And it seems as though Forest are looking to be a team that makes an attempt to sign him. While they haven’t got a full time manager at the moment after the sacking of Philippe Montanier, they are looking to strengthen their squad so they can avoid relegation and the signing of a big name like McCormack who is used to relegation fights would be a huge boost.
