Newcastle keeper set to become a Hornet?

Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul is said to have caught the interest of Walter Mazzarri’s Watford side and could make the move to Hertfordshire before the deadline later tonight.

It has been reported by The Chronicle live that the goalkeeper could leave The Magpies on loan for the second half of the season.

The keeper who is currently experiencing a spell in Amsterdam – looks to be heading to another destination before the end of the window. Ajax, the side he currently plays for on loan, have given the green light for Krul to return to England. However, Rafael Benitez has made it clear that Krul won’t be involved in his immediate plans.

He said last week that although he rates him, he wouldn’t play football at St James’ Park.

“Tim is a top class keeper who needed some time because he has been injured,” he said at the time.

“But if someone is asking then we have to consider it because we sent him on loan with the idea for him to play.”
Benitez will not be bringing the keeper back to his promotion-chasing side.

We had previously brought you the news that he had interested Premier League leaders Chelsea already this window. The Blues were looking to Krul to become their second choice – with Asmir Begovic being widely expected to leave.

However, Watford now appears to be the likely destination for the keeper. However, it remains to be seen whether first team football would be a regular thing at The Hornets. Current number one Heurelho Gomes will certainly be tough to dismantle.
