Spanish football expert comments on new Leeds United loanee

After yesterday’s defeat to non- league side Sutton in the FA Cup, Leeds United fans were desperate for some good news, any news.

That came late yesterday evening with news that the Whites were to get an ‘exciting’ loan signing with the ‘imminent’ arrival of Spanish winger Alfonso Pedraza from La Liga side Villareal as per Spanish publication AS.

The 20-year-old two-cap Spanish Under-21 international moves from Villareal, who have paid a loan severance agreement of €300,000, to Leeds United on the understanding that promotion to the Premier League will kick in an automatic purchase option in the region of €10 million.

Whilst on loan at Galician side CD Lugo, the young Spaniard, who can play across the front three positions, made 22 La Liga 2 appearances, scoring six times and setting up a further eight assists.

Leeds United fans were desperate for any news on the incoming young Villareal starlet, with some taking to asking SPanish football expert Guillem Balague for the lowdown on the reported arrival.

In answering a request from @TomWaller89LUFC on Twitter about Pedraza, Balague said in his Sky Sports web article:

“He is fast, very good with his positioning and works hard without the ball. He is one of those players who loves one-on-ones, which you don’t see too often. He is quick, has ability and it is a clever signing for Leeds. If he adapts to life and football in the Championship he could be a very good addition.”

Leeds had been in the hunt for another young Spaniard in Norwich’s former Liverpool youngster Sergi Canos, but with Pedraza incoming then this deal may have gone on the back-burner somewhat.
