Leeds United set to conclude deal for Spanish winger

Championship side Leeds United are set to conclude a deal for Spanish winger Alfonso Pedraza, according to Spanish media outlet AS.

According to reports, the 20-year-old is set to join the Whites before Tuesday’s transfer deadline and become Garry Monk’s second signing of the January window.

Pedraza is set to join the club on-loan, with the option for Leeds to sign the winger for a fee of near €10 million if they secure promotion to the Premier League.

Pedraza has made 22 appearances in La Liga 2 this season, scoring six goals and assisting a further eight for a CD Lugo side who sit in 7th place in the standings.

According to AS.com, parent club Villarreal have paid a €300,000 fee to end the loan at the player’s current club. Primarily operating on the left wing, Alfonso can also play as an attacking midfielder or on the opposite wing.

Leeds have also been linked with a move for Swedish full-back Linus Wahlqvist. Primarily operating as a right-back, the youngster can play in any position across the defence.

The youngster has featured in just three games for IFK Norrköping this season, two of those being the club’s Champions League Qualification games.

Wahlqvist has represented Sweden at all levels, making 13 appearances for Sweden’s under-21s side, scoring one goal, alongside going onto make five appearances for the senior side since his debut in January 2016.

The full-back was a reported target for Leeds United during the summer, but a move failed to materialise and he remained at Norrköping.

Leeds currently sit in 4th place in the Sky Bet Championship table following Wednesday night’s 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at Elland Road.
