Ipswich Town targeting Southampton winger

Ipswich Town have made Southampton’s Lloyd Isgrove a target according to a report from The Sun.

The 24-year-old winger showed his talent when he was on loan with Barnsley last season, spearheading their miraculous rise up the Sky Bet League One table before eventually achieving what many thought impossible when they were in the relegation, winning in the play-off final and sealing promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship.

It was thought that Isgrove would make his move to Barnsley permanent in the summer, or at least go on loan to another club. However he elected to stay at Southampton and try and use the form from his time in South Yorkshire to earn himself a place in their first team, hoping that their team’s great record at bringing through academy graduates would finally see him become a regular.

However that hasn’t happened as Isgrove has been stuck on the sidelines, only making two appearances for the first team and they were both in cup competitions. He also played some competitive football for the Southampton U23s in their exploits in the Checkatrade Trophy. But this lack of football means Isgrove is set to be on the move again and he already has a potential new home.

Ipswich are looking for players who can provide a spark for their season as they look to turn things around, especially with their head coach Mick McCarthy being under a lot of pressure from the fans. They hope that Isgrove’s pace will help them to be better in attack and get them the goals that will see them rise up the Championship table.
