Tony Xia’s complicated transfer policy revealed

If you follow Aston Villa owner Tony Xia on Twitter, you might have noticed this tweet yesterday. He appeared to be responding to the ongoing transfer rumours that continue to surround his club, with the deadline just days away.

To a betting man, that suggests: Villa are currently looking at three targets, who are 50% possible, but they only wish to sign one of them.

This news comes after recent speculation that Villa have shown interest in Max Gradel, Chuba Akpom and the ongoing rumours surrounding Middlesbrough forward, Jordan Rhodes.

Reports also suggest that as well as incomings, two could also leave the club. The recent controversial figure of Ross McCormack and Jack Grealish. The latter said to be interesting a number of different premier league sides.

In regards to Grealish, the outspoken owner had this to say to someone who suggested they’d be wrong to let him leave the club.

Villa’s transfer business is effectively a playoff push. They gave themselves a massive boost when they signed highly rated Conor Hourihane earlier in the week. Adding to the midfield addition of Henri Lansbury in the not too distant future.
Villa already completed the signing of Conor Hourihane earlier this week.

One unquestioned answer about the midfield signings at the club, however, is the future of Ashley Westwood. The midfielder, who originally joined from Crewe in 2012, has very much divided opinion at Villa Park. In one match, in particular, few even greeted his substitute appearance with boos and jeers.

Whatever happens from here, it looks set to be a busy period at Villa park in the remaining days.
