Jozefzoon, Brentford confirm signing of former Dutch U21 international

Brentford confirm signing of former Dutch U21 international

As expected, Brentford have confirmed the signing of PSV Eindhoven’s Florian Jozefzoon for an undisclosed fee on the club website.

Reports yesterday said that Brentford were closing in on the signing of the 25-year-old winger but now they have been confirmed after it was announced he would be joining the club after a deal was agreed. But Jozefzoon won’t get much time to impress the faithful at Griffin Park as he has only been given a contract that will last until the end of the season, though there is the option for an extra year.

Jozefzoon started his career in the prestigious Ajax academy but only made first appearances for their first team before moving on to play for RKC Waalwijk. Then after a year there, he made the move to PSV and played for them along side their reserve team, Jong PSV. However after making this move he can test himself in a completely new environment after only playing in the Netherlands for most of his career.

After the signing was completed, Brentford head coach Dean Smith said: “We are pleased that Florian has committed to us until at least the end of the season. We have been tracking him for a while and we are glad we could get him as we knew there were other suitors trying to capture his signature. Florian is a talented player who is an explosive ball carrier and will bring another dimension to our play. We are looking forward to working with him.”
