Addicks forward wanted by Shrimpers

Charlton Athletic attacker Nicky Ajose is understood to be wanted by The Addicks’ Sky Bet League One rivals Southend United according to the Southend Echo.

The 25-year-old Bury born frontman has been in and out of favour at The Valley this season and it has now been reported that Southend United manager Phil Brown would like to take the player to Roots Hall.

The Essex outfit are just three points adrift of the Play Off positions in Sky Bet League One and The Blues boss Brown is thought to be wanting to bring more firepower to the club in a bid to achieve his side’s Play Off dream.

Charlton Athletic striker Ajose has netted seven goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for the club so far this season despite being in and out of The Addicks’ starting line up. The player signed for the club in the summer for an undisclosed fee from Swindon Town.

Ajose is a product of the Manchester United academy although the player failed to make a senior appearance during his time at Old Trafford. Since making his senior debut during a loan spell at Bury, the player has gone on to represent no less than 10 other clubs and the journeyman could be set to add yet another club to his ever-growing list with a move to Roots Hall.
