Leeds United goalkeeper demands to be released

Leeds United’s Ross Turnbull has demanded that he be released by the club according to a report from the Football Insider.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper signed for Leeds last summer and while it was clear before hand that he was going to be a reserve, he probably expected to get on the pitch a bit more than he actually has. He unfortunately did struggle in his opening season thanks to an injury, but even after his return he has only been able to make one appearance for the West Yorkshire club.

And now in his second season at Elland Road, Turnbull’s chances of getting into the first team are even more unlikely. He is now the third choice keeper behind both Rob Green and Marco Silvestri and while he did manage to get back into the matchday squad when Silvestri fell out of favour, the Italian has since done enough to get back into the first team and even started a game in the EFL Cup.

Because of his limited opportunities at Leeds, Turnbull now wants to leave the club so he can get the first team action he craves elsewhere. However while he could be patient and wait until the end of the season when his current deal expires, he wants to leave as soon as possible and is seeking to get a similar deal to what Sol Bamba got when he was released by mutual consent after the transfer window closed. If Leeds agree to pay out his current deal, Turnbull could soon be a free agent and a potential asset to any team in the Sky Bet EFL.
