Birmingham City have continued to strengthen their squad by signing Kerim Frei from Besiktas for an undisclosed fee as confirmed by the club website.
The Blues were clear after they were taken over by Trillion Trophy Asia that they were going to spend big in the January transfer window to make sure they would be battling for promotion at the end of the season. And they have been good for their word as now after Frei completed his move to Birmingham, they have signed five players during this transfer window.
Before Frei signed for Birmingham, the West Midlands club had completed deals for Lukas Jutkiewicz, Craig Gardner, Emilio Nsue and Cheick Keita as they looked to improve their squad. And Birmingham are pressing on with investing heavily into their team by signing Frei from Besiktas who has now signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the club.
Frei may be a familiar name to some in England as he started his professional career in this country after coming through the Fulham academy after being signed from Grasshopper. However he struggled to break into the first team there, despite having a loan spell with Cardiff City to help in his development. Since then he has playing in Turkey for Besiktas but after making 83 appearances for them over three years, he has now returned to England.
But now he will hope to make a splash with the rest of the players Birmingham have brought in during this transfer window and help the Blues get promoted from the Sky Bet Championship.
